I shall be going away on holiday to Florida this summer…
And as much as I am excited to spend some time away from the hussle and bussle of life in the other concrete jungle known as London, to be perfectly honest, I am not looking forward to spending a number of weeks in America and countless amount of hours over the pond!
Now, do not get me wrong…I do not hate Americans. But if I had to choose between spending an hour with a typical American or do return to ‘gay’ camp and do another 7 mile hike in my wet mud stained jeans in the freezing cold….I would choose summer camp of 2005!
I just know to expect the derogatory and ignorant remarks from Americans when they see me and hear me when I open my mouth.
“OH-MY-GOD! You’re British! And you’re black! Oh-my-God! Do you know the Queen? Have to been to Buckingham palace before? Oh-my-God, I can’t get over the fact that you are black yet you’re from England! Were you born there? Or did you come over from Africa?”
Okay, so maybe not THAT bad. But something along the lines is to be expected…
I think me in American would be quite a humorous thing.
Therefore, I am planning to do a daily diary blog of every day of my holiday that I am there, detailing my experience as an anglophile in the states…
The Anglophile Goes Sunnyside Up!
Keep posted!
